The Project

Black Pear Electrical were appointed by Spaceworks Interiors to deliver the complete electrical installation package as part of the transformation of the Woods Furniture showroom within Castlepoint Shopping Centre, Bournemouth.

Working as part of a coordinated refurbishment programme, our role was to provide a high-quality electrical installation that complemented the premium interior fit-out while meeting demanding programme deadlines and maintaining the exceptionally high finish expected throughout the showroom.

From the first fix through to final commissioning, our engineers worked closely with Spaceworks Interiors to ensure every element of the electrical installation integrated seamlessly with the bespoke joinery, feature displays and architectural lighting design.

Our Approach

Retail environments demand far more than simply installing lighting and power.

Every electrical point must support the customer’s experience whilst remaining virtually invisible within the finished environment.

The Woods Furniture refurbishment included extensive bespoke cabinetry, feature shelving display units and reception furniture, all requiring carefully coordinated electrical supplies without compromising the clean architectural appearance of the showroom.

Throughout the project, Black Pear Electrical maintained close communication with Spaceworks Interiors, coordinating our installation around evolving joinery details and ensuring the programme remained on schedule.

Following completion of the main refurbishment, we also carried out additional variation works to improve the showroom’s operational flexibility, including alterations to the entrance switching arrangment.

Our team of two dedicated engineers remained on the project throughout the five-week programme, delivering the complete electrical package from installation through to final testing and handover.

Works included:

  • Preparation of details RAMS documentation in accordance with current HSE requirements.
  • Installation of 245 LED track-mounted lighting fittings throughout the retail sales floor.
  • Installation of 54 new small power outlets to support furniture displays, sales areas and back-of-house facilities.
  • Alterations to the existing distribution equipment and final circuit modifications.
  • Complete inspection, testing and NICEIC certification.

Delivering a Premium Finish 

One of the defining features of this project was the attention to detail.

Power outlets were carefully positioned within bespoke furniture display to provide practical functionality without detracting from the showroom aesthetics. Lighting was precisely aligned with the new retail layout, ensuring furniture displays are evenly illuminated while creating a warm, inviting shopping environment.

The finished installation demonstrates how thoughtful electrical design can become an integral part of the overall interior architecture rather than simply a building service.

The Result 

The refurbishment has transformed Woods Furniture Bournemouth into a contemporary retail environment that reflects the quality of its products and brand.

By working collaboratively with Spaceworks Interiors throughout the programme, Black Pear Electrical delivered a high-quality installation that combined functionality, reliability and exceptional attention to detail.

The new lighting scheme enhances product displays throughout the showroom, while discreetly integrate power installations provide flexibility for future merchandising without compromising the premium interior finish.
